Philanthropist Robert Weekley, was CCJF’s founding donor. About his gift, he wrote:
My Legacy Gift ($250,000) - Four Reasons WHY
- I have lived in California for most of my life, over 30 years. I have watched major parts of this dynamic economy suffer because of the activities of certain self-enriching/self-serving groups.
- Because of the growth and activities of these groups, they have been extremely successful at frustrating the activities of more productive enterprises. Someone should take the leadership to oppose their efforts.
- There are very few that understand this Machiavellian process, and even fewer that have some financial and capable human resources to try to fight. The most effective of these is the CIVIL JUSTICE ASSOCIATION OF CALIFORNIA, who I have admired and supported for 20 years because of their effective leadership.
- As a result, I have decided to leave the California Civil Justice Foundation $250,000, as a tribute to them, to their effectiveness and to continue their efforts. I believe any thoughtful citizen who has financially benefitted from the system, is morally and reasonably required to share some of that wealth to create a better future for all.
